Warm welcome to our new GPC, Luke Feuling Porter!
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is happy to welcome Luke Feuling Porter, as our new Graduate Program Coordinator.
Where did you come from before this?
From May 2019 to December 2023, I worked in the U of M Medical School as an Academic Advisor. From May 2016 to May 2019 I worked as a Pre-Health Career Coach/Advisor in the College of Biological Sciences. Before that, I was completing a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership focused on Student Affairs at the University of St. Thomas. I'm a University of Minnesota alum and completed my undergraduate degree in 2012.
What do you like to do outside work?
Outside of work, I love to play music (guitar, piano, singing) and attend local shows. I started teaching myself guitar in 2020 and am currently saving up for a nice amp and electric guitar. I like to collect things--comics, movies (DVDs), trading cards, MP3s, video games, and vinyl records. I also spend a fair amount of time with my spouse, Kate, and our cat, Lupe, doing projects around our house in the Armatage neighborhood of South Minneapolis.
What’s your favorite campus lunch spot?
I tend to pack my own lunch, but I wouldn't say no to Stub & Herbs or Burrito Loco.
What do you want students to know about you?
I'm very excited to start working with students. Supporting students on their academic journey is the reason I find working at a university fulfilling. Additionally, graduate school can be really challenging at times due to a variety of reasons, not just the degree's academic rigor, so hopefully, I can be a person of support during the unanticipated challenges that pop up during graduate school. I'm always ready to help. Don't hesitate stopping by my office to say hello!
