MNGOT: K-6 Elementary education MEd and teaching license
We are currently accepting applications for our K-6 Elementary MNGOT program. This pathway is designed for non-licensed Reading Corps members with bachelor’s degrees (see Reading Corps website for eligibility) who are interested in earning a master’s degree and license in K-6 Elementary Education. The program is also open to those working on a Tier 2 Elementary Education license. The next cohort for the K-6 Elementary MNGOT Reading Corps program begins Fall 2025.
- Two-year, 36-credit K-6 Elementary initial licensure and MEd program
- Coursework is hybrid (online with face-to-face meetings once a month)
- Program designed to be completed while serving
- Student teaching occurs in year two while serving as a Reading Corps tutor

MNGOT is designed for individuals who have a bachelor’s degree
- Educational assistants or paraprofessionals
- Substitute/reserve teachers who hold only a substitute teaching license

Program schedule
Year 1
Work full-time at your school and complete 18 credits of coursework and 100 hours of field experience. Field experience can often be completed at the school site where you are employed.
Year 2
There are two options for student teaching while completing the remaining 18 credits of coursework.
- MNGOT Reading Corps K-6 elementary students: half day, full year of student teaching at school site
- Tier 2 teachers: job-embedded student teaching while serving as the teacher of record in an elementary classroom

Tuition and financial aid information
We are able to offer a reduced rate of $600 per credit. The 36-credit program will cost a total of $21,600; this rate will save participants nearly $3000. In addition, working is allowable during at least the first year of the program, depending on individual student teaching scenarios and district employment opportunities. Generous scholarships are available for eligible students.

Please note: an interview and admission decision will occur following each application deadline. Candidates only need to participate in one application round.
