MNGOT: ESL and world language MEd and licensure
We are currently accepting applications for our University of Minnesota Grow Your Own Teachers (MNGOT) K-12 ESL and world language (WL) program. This pathway is designed for individuals with a bachelor's degree and who are interested in earning a master's degree and license in K-12 ESL and/or WL.
- Earn a Tier 3 K-12 ESL and/or a K-12 world language teaching license
- Earn a master's of education degree
- The option to earn a $35,000 paid student teaching residency fellowship during student teaching
- Programming option for Tier 1 and Tier 2 teachers

Summer 2025 - Spring 2027 program
Option 1: One year paid residency fellowship
Year 1
- Fellowships and scholarships up to the cost of attendance
- Complete a full year of student teaching as a resident student teacher or a Tier 2 teacher
- Mentored by University supervisor
- Complete coursework (summer, fall, spring)
Year 2
- Option to work in a school as a Tier 2 teacher
- Complete coursework (summer, fall, spring)

Tuition and financial aid information
We are able to offer a reduced rate of $600 per credit. The 36-credit program will cost a total of $21,600; this rate will save participants nearly $3000. In addition, working is allowable during at least the first year of the program, depending on individual student teaching scenarios and district employment opportunities. Generous scholarships are available for eligible students.

Please note: an interview and admission decision will occur following each application deadline. Candidates only need to participate in one application round.
