Biography

I am a compassionate educator focused on bringing peace education resources, lessons and strategies to schools worldwide. I am a dedicated educator who has been involved in education for over twenty years working in diverse settings. I have been a Reading Recovery teacher, first-grade teacher, literacy coach, instructional coach and leader, Elementary Curriculum Director, Assistant Principal and Principal. Through these various roles, I have remained committed to culturally relevant peace education and strong literacy instruction. I received my doctorate a few years ago from Hamline University, my dissertation focused on culturally relevant teaching and critical literacy practices. As a Lecturer at the University of Minnesota, I strive to bring culturally relevant pedagogy into practice for all of my pre-service teachers.
