Lesly Gamez: Named 2023-2024 Alumni of the Year by University of Saint Thomas English Department

Current Culture and Teaching PhD student Lesly Gamez was recently honored with the 2023-2024 Alumni of the Year award from the English Department at the University of Saint Thomas. Nominated by Associate Professor Olga Herrera, Dr. Herrera had this to say about Lesly: "Lesly Gamez has devoted her career to education and equity work. It’s so important for us to lift teaching up as a profession whenever possible to inspire our students and to help them learn about how teachers become so involved in their communities." Gamez currently serves as the Assistant Director of Equity & Learning at South St. Paul Public Schools.
