This event is designed for C&I faculty, staff, researchers, and instructors, but is open to anyone interested in these urgent conversations. We’ll kick off with a short presentation by Dr. Selin Akgün, Assistant Professor of Science Education, titled: “Artificial Intelligence in Education: Addressing Ethical Challenges in K-12 Settings” Following the talk, we’ll break into groups to discuss pressing questions in educational technology, including:
- What are the key concerns, tensions, and problems surrounding EdTech in our locality?
- What social harms are we seeing associated with digital technology in education?
- What does the political economy of EdTech look like in our region?
- What grounds for hope do we have?
This is a unique opportunity to connect, reflect, and critically engage with the challenges and possibilities of educational technology in our communities.
CSET (Critical Studies of Education and Technology) is a global initiative fostering academic discussions on education and technology. CSET 2025 consists of a series of academic gatherings held worldwide between February 17–21, all centered on this shared theme.
