C&I Professor Emeritus Richard Beach induced into Reading Hall of Fame

Department of Curriculum and Instruction Emeritus Professor Richard Beach has been inducted into the Reading Hall of Fame (RHF). The RHF is an international organization that recognizes lifetime achievement in the field of literacy. Since retiring in 2013, Beach has continued conducting research and scholarship in the fields of his expertise, including digital literacies, reader engagement, multiliteracies, and others. Among other accomplishments, he became a leading voice in advocating for literacy teaching on climate change and he spearheaded the first collection on the topic, Teaching Climate Change to Adolescents (2019). Some of his recent publications include Youth Created Media on the Climate Crisis (2023) and Empowering Youth to Confront the Climate Crisis in English Language Arts (2024). Beach will be formally inducted into RHF and introduced to members in attendance at the organization’s annual meeting in December. He also has been invited to present his research at the 2026 RHF annual meeting.
