Bic Ngo Appointed Director of Graduate Studies; Kendall King Transitions to Associate Dean in CEHD
Bic Ngo has been appointed as the new Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). Bic Ngo is an accomplished scholar who earned her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on understanding the complex meanings of culture and identity among immigrant youth and communities, addressing the challenges of subtractive schooling, and exploring strategies for advancing social justice in education. In her new role, she will oversee C&I’s graduate programs, policies, and goals.
Kendall King, who previously served as the Director of Graduate Studies for C&I and was a Professor of Multilingual Education in the department, has transitioned to a new role as Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Faculty Development for CEHD. Kendall earned her PhD in Educational Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor at New York University before moving to Georgetown University’s Department of Linguistics. Since joining the University of Minnesota in 2008, she has attained the rank of professor and has been actively involved in various university committees. Kendall has served on the Faculty Senate, the Graduate Education Council, and the University Senate Student Academic Integrity Committee. She also chaired the CEHD Promotion and Tenure Committee last year, participated in the CHAIR program, and previously led the CEHD Curriculum Committee.
